Review: Thai Lion Air SL105/SL104 Singapore to Bangkok Airbus A330 Boeing 737

Thai Lion Air flight from Singapore (Changi airport) and Bangkok (Don Mueang Airport) two trips every day. Thai Lion Air SL105 for the trip is either Boeing 737 or Airbus A330. This is my first time taking Thai Lion Air to Bangkok. I got this good deal for the round trip flight ticket is only $128 for the new year eve trip from 27 Dec 2019 to 1 Jan 2020. Read here to know more how you can get best flight ticket deals. The original departure time is 8.50 pm had rescheduled to 9.30 pm and arrive in Bangkok quite late at 11.20 pm.

Baggage

Thai Lion Air is budget service airline and does not have free check-in baggage. Thai Lion Air only has a free 7 Kg cabin check-in. However, you can purchase the baggage weight you want in the increment of 1 Kg.

Thai Lion Air Check-in service

The web check-in of Thai Lion Air only opens 24 hour before the departure time. Unfortunately, I try to web check-in when available, the website showing please contact the airport counter. Therefore, I cannot get my boarding in advance so that I can skip to visit the check-in counter and enjoy the Singapore Jewel Christmas decoration before my flight.

You can pay to choose the seat you want when travelling together with friend and family. There are 3 types of seat available for Thai lion air.

Lion comfort seat

  • Preferred Seat Selection

  • Priority de-Boarding

Standard seat

  • Choice of being seated together

Pre-booked meal

There is a pre-booked meal available for the trip from Singapore to Bangkok. However, there is no pre-booked meal available for trip from Bangkok to Singapore. Unfortunately, I am the only one in this flight book the meal. The cabin crew do not tell me until I ask them about my meal. I guess they do not prepare the meal due to the low demand.

Conclusion, you may consider not to buy the pre-booked meal and have a good meal at Changi airport to prevent tedious refund process at Thai Lion counter about half an hour.

Thai Lion Air SL105 flight

My Thai lion air SL105 departing from Singapore to  Bangkok is Airbus A330-900-NEO which have the seat configuration of 3-3-3. I am sitting in the middle of the cabin.

I was so lucky because Thai lion air has only 2 fleets on this model. Besides that, this plane looks quite new and the seat pitch is comfortable. My seat is just beside the engine but the noise is not too loud.

From the Thai Lion Air website shows that the economy seat has the in-flight entertainment. However, I check the lion comfort seat in this flight is also just like a standard seat nothing special and is similar to mine. I guess maybe only some of the fleet have in-flight entertainment only.

I was so surprised this flight have the Wi-Fi connections. There is a video menu to watch, unfortunately you need an internet connection to download the player from apps store first. Hence you cannot watch the video with the Wi-Fi, you can only view the geometry of this flight.
